Apply for Accommodations

To request accommodations, students self-identify to ODS, complete an application, and submit disability documentation.  ODS staff evaluate documentation alongside the student’s self-report to determine eligibility. The entire registration process can be completed virtually.

Students are encouraged to begin the registration process after committing to attend UA.  While there’s no deadline, early registration is recommended.

  1. Review Documentation Requirements

Review and share documentation guidelines with your provider or evaluator. Gather your documents – you will be asked to upload them with your application in Step 2. Contact ODS if you have concerns about obtaining documentation.

  2. Complete Online Application and Upload Documentation

Log in to the ODS Online Portal with your myBama username and password to complete an application. You’ll be asked to select the type of disability for which you’re seeking accommodation, and the type of accommodation(s) you’re requesting. Upload your documentation.

  3. Check your UA Email

Documentation will be reviewed within 5 business days of receipt. You’ll receive an email from your Accommodations Specialist outlining next steps. If we need to meet with you, virtual or in-person appointments can be scheduled.

  4. Accommodation Letters

You’ll receive instructions on how to send accommodation letters to your instructors. An accommodation letter is the official way to notify instructors about your accommodation(s).

  5. Follow-up

Stay in touch with instructors and your Accommodations Specialist to clarify how accommodations will be applied in each course.
