Office of Disability Services Faculty Advisory Council
Duties

Advise the ODS Executive Director on supporting faculty in relation to the provision of services for students with disabilities. Facilitate communication between ODS and academic units. Enhance campus awareness and understanding of disability-related services. Serve as a point of contact and a resource to other faculty members. Adopt and support the creation of an inclusive environment free of barriers and bias.

Composition

The council consists of no more than twelve members, including faculty from the following areas:

  • College of Arts & Sciences (up to 2)
  • Culverhouse College of Business (up to 2)
  • College of Communication and Information Sciences
  • College of Community Health Sciences
  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering
  • College of Human Environmental Sciences
  • School of Law
  • Capstone College of Nursing
  • School of Social Work

The faculty appointment term is two academic years, with an option to remain on the council for one additional term. Appointed faculty must provide student instruction and have experience providing accommodations to students with disabilities.
