Standardized Exam Accommodation Requests

Students currently receiving testing accommodations at UA may request ODS assistance for standardized or credentialing exam accommodations. Note: ODS does not retain records beyond 5 years after last contact and cannot verify accommodations after that period.

  • You are responsible for reviewing the exam’s application, documentation requirements, and procedures. ODS can provide copies of your documentation or verify accommodations, but you must submit all paperwork.
  • Request assistance from ODS at least 4 weeks before registering for your exam.  Allow extra time if updated documentation is needed.
    • ODS processes requests on the following dates: 6/25/25, 7/30/25, 8/27/25, 9/10/25, 9/24/25, 10/8/25, 10/22/25, 11/5/25, 11/19/25, 12/3/25
  • Note: ODS does not approve accommodations for standardized exams. Approval is determined by the exam administering body, which may require different or updated documentation.

Alabama State Bar Exam

Visit the Alabama State Bar website to review the application process and required documentation.

The Alabama State Bar requires forms to be completed by an appropriately licensed professional. The Bar also requires that Form 7: Certification of Accommodations History (PDF) be completed by any colleges attended. Complete the box on the top of page 1 and upload the form along with your standardized exam accommodation request.

Graduate Record Examinations (GRE)

The GRE is administered by Educational Testing Services, and all accommodation requests must be submitted and approved by ETS Disability Services before scheduling your test. Visit the ETS website for application details and documentation requirements.

ETS does not require verification from ODS, but including a Certificate of Eligibility can shorten the review time to 3 weeks. Without it, the review may take 6 weeks.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The GMAT is administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council. Visit the GMAC website for application details and documentation requirements.

GMAC does not require verification of accommodations from ODS. GMAC requires a copy of a professional assessment from an appropriately licensed professional.

Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

The Law School Admission Council administers the LSAT. Visit the LSAC website for application details and documentation requirements.

The LSAC does not require verification of accommodations from ODS. LSAC requires a copy of a professional assessment from an appropriately licensed professional.

Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)

The Association of American Medical Colleges administers the MCAT. Visit the AAMC website for application details and documentation requirements.

To request verification of accommodations and/or copies of the documentation you submitted to ODS, please complete the Request for Documentation form.

Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE)

The MPRE is administered by the National Conference of Bar Examiners. Candidates must apply for and receive accommodations approval from NCBE before registering for the exam. Application instructions are provided: preparing your request.

Upload the Certification of Accommodations History Form along with your standardized exam accommodation request .

National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)

Pearson VUE administers the NCLEX. Visit the NCLEX Bulletin (PDF) for application details and documentation requirements.

NCLEX does not require verification of accommodations from ODS. You should make a written request for accommodations to your Nursing Regulatory Board (NRB).

National Counselor Exam (NCE)

The NCE is administered by NBCC and Pearson VUE. Accommodations must be approved by NBCC before scheduling your exam. Visit the NBCC website to download the handbook and review the process (see page 11).

Complete the Special Examination Accommodation Request Form . Section A should be completed by the student and Section B should be completed by the provider (i.e., qualified professional).

Students seeking ODS support should complete the standardized exam accommodation request form to request verification of your UA accommodations.

Pre-Professional Skills Test (Praxis)

The Praxis is administered by Educational Testing Services, and all accommodation requests must be submitted and approved by ETS Disability Services before scheduling your test. Visit the Bulletin Supplement for Test Takers with Disabilities for application details and documentation requirements.

ETS does not require verification from ODS, but including a Certificate of Eligibility can shorten the review time to 3 weeks. Without it, the review may take 6 weeks.

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

Students taking the TEAS are often proctored at the UA Testing Center on the second floor of Houser Hall.

Complete the standardized exam accommodation request form . ODS will send verification to UA Testing Services and copy you. It is your responsibility to communicate with UA Testing Services to schedule your test.

If your exam is not listed above, you will need to determine from the administering body how to request accommodations.
