E-text, or electronic text, is specially formatted text that can be read aloud using text-to-speech software or screen readers. Other examples include enlarged print or Braille materials.
Students must be registered with ODS and approved for an Alternative Formats accommodation to request text conversion or remediation services through the ODS Online Portal.
Students are encouraged to submit their requests at least 4 weeks before classes begin. Proof of possession is required and materials cannot be released to the student without it. Standard processing takes 2 weeks; out-of-print, custom, or UA-printed texts may take up to 4 weeks.
Students are notified via Crimson email when materials are ready and access instructions are provided. Materials must not be copied, shared, or distributed, in compliance with federal copyright law.
