Accommodated students should follow these steps at the beginning of each semester:
Check course requirements
Review syllabi to determine which accommodations are needed for each course. For example, if a class has no exams, you do not need to request testing accommodations in the course.
Log into the ODS Online Portal
Tutorials are available. Review and sign required e-forms (includes reminders about your responsibilities and using accommodations). Ensure your course schedule is correct.
Send accommodation letters
Send a letter for each course where you need accommodations. Select the individual accommodations you need in each course.
Remember: Accommodations are not retroactive and cannot be implemented until you have sent an accommodation letter to your instructor and made arrangements for receiving accommodations.
Communicate with instructors
Schedule a meeting or visit office hours to discuss how accommodations will be provided. For example, if you have testing accommodations, your instructor will indicate whether the accommodations will be provided in the department or the ODS Testing Center.
Communicate with ODS
Use the ODS Online Portal to manage your accommodations. Schedule exams at the ODS Testing Center if needed. Remain in touch with your Accommodations Specialist as needed.
The provision of accommodations is an ongoing and collaborative process between the student, the instructor, and ODS. Students with questions or concerns regarding accommodations should promptly communicate with their instructor and Accommodations Specialist.
