Group Work & Presentations

The Flexible Attendance and Deadlines accommodation entitles students to an opportunity to make-up group work, presentations, and other graded work due to a disability-related fare.

When completing a Flex Plan instructors will indicate the make-up opportunity provided.

Make-up opportunities for group work

Note: Courses with group work components require interactive communication between student and instructor. If absences impact group performance, student should talk to instructor immediately.

Make-up options include:

  • Student should promptly contact me to discuss how points from missed group work can be earned.
  • There is limited flexibility available for group work in this course. The rationale and alternatives are indicated in the Additional Comment box.
  • Group work is not part of the grade in this course.

Examples of Additional Comments:

  • Requirements for Blackboard group discussions need to be completed within the timeframe allotted to the class, as learning can only take place during the times when the conversation is active.
  • Group projects can be modified to an individual project, if needed.
  • Student is responsible for coordinating with group members to schedule time to make-up group work missed due to a flare-up.
Make-up opportunities for presentations

Make-up options include:

  • Points from a missed presentation can be earned by arranging a make-up. Contact me for more details.
  • There is limited flexibility available for presentations in this course. The rationale and alternatives are indicated in the Additional Comment box.
  • Presentations are not part of the grade in this course.

Examples of Additional Comments:

  • Class presentations occur over multiple days. If flare-up occurs on student’s presentation day, student will present during the following class period.
  • Student can schedule a make-up presentation 1-on-1 with instructor during office hours.
Make-up opportunities for experiential activities

Courses coded as APS, LAB, SEM, etc. may involve experiential activities that are essential to learning. Examples of make-up opportunities include:

  • Within the four-week period leading up to a performance, student can miss up to two classes.
  • Student can miss one additional studio practice during the semester. Any additional absences will result in student not participating.
  • There are multiple labs throughout the week, so student can attend a different lab section during the same week that covers the same material.
  • Missed labs need to be made up within two weeks. Student will contact instructor to schedule make-up.
  • This course has two designated class periods in which student can make-up work. If necessary, student can request one additional lab time for make-up work.
